How does a Robot Lawn Mower work?
Robot lawn mowers work according to programmed work intervals and alternates cutting cycles with recharging. For even grass cutting, it proceeds and rebounds in the area marked by the boundary wire. To optimise cutting, it adopts a spiral movement where the grass is taller or thicker. The random pattern used by the robot is part of the algorithm designed to ensure the most efficient use of the mower to ensure it cuts all areas before recutting some.
Will a robot lawn mower do a good job? Right to the edges?
Where the lawn is adjacent to flower beds or other obstacles which the mower could fall into or become stuck on, the advice is to place the perimeter wire further from the edge of the lawn. The exact distance will vary from model to model. This often results in a thin strip of grass which is not cut by the mower.
This means with most robot lawn mowers; you must still have to attend to the edges of your grass with an edge trimmer or other suitable edging tool. In most cases, this may mean you trim the edges approximately once per month, and this simple task keeps the lawn looking well kept. More advanced and expensive models have different cutting blade technology and some claim to cut right to the edge on all lawns.
No doubt, as the technology improves, this issue will be resolved.
Can I leave the mower unattended while mowing?
One of the great features of robotic lawn mowers is that once they have been set up, they can be left to function with no supervision whatsoever. You will be able to schedule your mower to cut the grass at whatever time and day is most suitable to you and rely on it to get on with the job with no intervention.
Robot lawn mowers are extremely quiet so there really is no issue with scheduling the robot lawn mower to work at night or at times when you’re enjoying other areas of the garden.
Which model is best for my garden?

Does the Ambrogio Robot require maintenance?
Yes. You must check your Ambrogio Robot regularly and clean it when necessary. As with all equipment, you must maintain to achieve the best results. You can find out how to do this in the User Manual in the chapter entitled “Maintenance Recommendations”. Please note that Ambrogio Robot should not be immersed in or washed in water. During winter, take your Ambrogio robot to your local Ambrogio site for annual inspection.
Can the boundary wire interfere with outdoor lighting, irrigation or alarms?
Most of the time, no. However, to avoid any disturbance, it is advisable to locate the charging station away from automatic gates, an energy source, or a lighting control or automatic garden watering. Please see the section in the User Manual titled “Planning the Installation”. When we install your system, we make sure we take all these elements into consideration.
MAINTENANCE & SERVICING
How much energy does the RoboLawn Robot consume?
The monthly electricity consumption of Ambrogio Robot is much lower than the fuel consumption necessary for mowing with a traditional petrol lawn mower. Remember, any changes in incline and thickness of grass areas consume more battery life than if it was mowing on a flat area.
How long will the RoboLawn Robot blade last?
Ambrogio Robot comes with a 4-tooth stainless steel blade that lasts for many years, unlike normal cutters used with lawn mower robots that need to be frequently replaced. Please contact your local Ambrogio Robot dealer to sharpen the blade.
What happens during an unexpected power outage?
In the event of an unexpected power cut, the robot lawn mower will stop immediately. Although the robot lawn mower itself is battery powered, the perimeter wire has a current running through it, which the robot lawn mower detects and is essential for its operation. Therefore, when power to this is interrupted for any reason, the robot lawnmower will stop until such times as power is restored. Once power is restored, the mower will revert to its previous activity, with no loss of settings.
INSTALLATION & PROGRAMMING
How should RoboLawn Robot be programmed?
Enter the programming menu using the buttons on the display, select the days and times you want Ambrogio Robot to work. See the table of instructions in the chapter in the operating manual entitled "Work schedule - programming mode". Or you can simply contact your local Ambrogio robot dealer / distributor for answers to your questions.
Will the RoboLawn Robot recognise trees, low shrubs and flower beds?
Yes. Ambrogio Robot gently bounces by itself on every major obstacle, but if there are also elements on the lawn that you do not want it to collide with, surround them with the boundary wire, according to the instructions in the chapter entitled "Preparing and marking the boundaries of working areas" in the User Manual. Ambrogio Robot will approach the boundary wire line and then deviate in the other direction. During the site survey, we will consult you and include these in the plan for the layout.
My garden consists of several areas. Can RoboLawn Robot mow them all?
The Ambrogio Robot can cover up to 8 separate work areas, these are: the main area where the charging station is located and up to 7 additional lawns connected and / or adjacent to the main one. Please see "Technical Data" in the Operator's Manual for the exact number of areas your Ambrogio robot can mow.
How is the RoboLawn Robot installed?
The Ambrogio Robot mows in the area marked by the boundary wire that runs along the edge of the lawn. The cable is attached to the ground with plastic fixing pins, or it is placed underground. The beginning and end of the cord are connected to the charging station, which is connected to a power source.
Can I install the RoboLawn Robot myself?
Yes. Follow the detailed points in the operating manual. Should you need any problems or to have your installation performed professionally, please contact your local Ambrogio specialist / distributor who is at your disposal.
Which parts of RoboLawn Robot need to be checked?
Knife and wheels, as they are most vulnerable to dirt and wear. Also check and remove traces of oxidation from the caps used to charge the robot, as well as from the plates with which they touch in the charging station. It only takes a few minutes, and you will ensure the full effectiveness of Ambrogio Robot!
What happens if RoboLawn Robot blade hits a stone?
The security system will stop the Ambrogio robot if it hits a large stone. After impact, check that the knife is not damaged and replace it if necessary. Please see the section in the Operator's Manual headed “Safety Stop” and “Blade Replacement”. It is recommended to regularly check the lawn for stones and other objects accidentally left on it.
What are the most common problems experienced?
The most common problems that may arise during the normal operation of Autoclip can be easily identified by consulting the "Troubleshooting" chart in the operating manual. The chart shows the most common problems, causes and tips for possible solutions. You can easily fix some faults, whereas other intervention requires specific technical expertise, therefore we recommend you contact us, who will promptly restore Autoclip to its normal operation. We suggest that you read the advice and tips for use in the various sections of the operating manual. In this way, you will avoid any problems due to improper installation or programming.
Can I monitor my RoboLawn Robot via a mobile phone?
Yes. If the robot is equipped with the ZCS Connect module that allows you to connect and cooperate with the robot anytime and anywhere via your own smartphone or tablet using the Ambrogio Remote application (downloadable from Google Play or Apple App Store). You can freely configure the robot's working time, check the location, shutdown and / or indicate work in specific areas in the garden, monitor the robot's work and receive warnings in the event of theft, and much more.
Can the RoboLawn Robot be secured against theft or other unauthorised use?
Yes. Ambrogio Robot can be protected with a 4-digit PIN code. Ambrogio Robot cannot then be started, nor can you enter the programming menu without a PIN code, so third parties cannot use the robot. In addition, robots equipped with the ZCS Connect module have the "GeoFence" function or "virtual fence". The user independently defines the area in which the robot can work and taking it outside this area, based on the built-in GPS, it automatically blocks the robot, which will not be able to start or enter the programming menu. Please see the section in the operating manual entitled "Security - Programming Mode".
Is the Perimeter Wire Safe?
Yes. Ambrogio Robot is designed to work at an ambient temperature from -10 to + 50°C, a range that is much wider than the growth rate of grass.
